About Robert Naylor
Robert Naylor Jr. is an executive and professional development coach, life coach, workplace equity consulting partner—and author of The Soul of a Leader. His work integrates reflective leadership, disciplined strategy, and values-driven performance.
With a foundation in leadership development, team dynamics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, Robert partners with single practitioners, high-potential individual contributors, emerging leaders,

and senior executives across diverse industries and professional backgrounds. He also collaborates with businesses, member associations, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations to design tailored initiatives that enhance performance, strengthen collaboration, develop leaders, and build lasting organizational capacity.
His workplace equity practice includes leadership training, talent
strategy, recruitment and hiring design, employee engagement and retention initiatives, and policy development—grounded in the belief that inclusive cultures are not aspirational statements but operational commitments.
Robert has worked for more than twelve years as an independent practitioner and previously served nearly a decade in a senior corporate leadership role.
A journalist by training, he spent three decades as a reporter, editor, manager, and corporate leader in the news industry. As Director of Career Development for the global news division of The Associated Press, he designed and led groundbreaking leadership and management development programs for managers and staff worldwide, while guiding newsroom-based diversity initiatives and overseeing internship and student development programs.
He has also served as a college journalism instructor and frequent presenter at professional, academic, and student journalism conferences. His international teaching experience includes journalism instruction in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As a consultant, Robert has developed leadership and organizational initiatives for community organizations, arts institutions, member associations, and Fortune 500 companies.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Jackson State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. He also earned a graduate certificate in servant leadership from Gonzaga University, a professional certificate in leadership studies from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and coaching certification from the Certified Life Coach Institute.
At the center of his work is a simple conviction: leadership is not merely a position—it is a disciplined practice of alignment, stewardship, and growth.
