About Robert Naylor
Robert is an executive and professional development coach, life coach, and workplace equity consulting partner with a background in leadership development, team dynamics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
His coaching clients include single practitioners, high-potential individual contributors, emerging leaders, and senior managers from a variety of personal backgrounds and professions. Robert also works with businesses, member associations, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations of all sizes to create tailored programs that enhance performance and team engagement, improve collaboration, develop leaders, and build organizational capacity.
His DEI work includes training and talent solutions, recruitment and hiring strategies, employee engagement and retention initiatives, and policy development.
Robert has worked for more than 12 years as an independent practitioner and nearly a decade of experience in a corporate leadership role.
A journalist by training, Robert spent three decades working as a reporter, editor, manager, and corporate leader in the news business. As Director of Career Development for the global News division of The Associated Press, he developed ground-breaking leadership and management development programs for managers and staff around the world while leading the news agency's newsroom-based diversity initiatives. He also managed internships and other student programs.
Robert has been a college journalism teacher and a frequent speaker and presenter for professional journalism, student journalism, and journalism education conferences. He taught journalism to students, educators, and professionals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As a consultant, Robert has developed initiatives and programs for a variety of organizations, including community organizations, arts organizations member associations, and Fortune 500 companies.
Robert earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Jackson State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. He also has a graduate certificate in servant leadership from Gonzaga and a professional certificate in leadership studies from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. He received his coaching certification from the Certified Life Coach Institute.
